As a provider of safety products for the public, Safety Dave is acutely aware of how speedy response is to their business’ success.
Purchased by RPM Automotive Group over two years ago, Safety Dave’s reputation as a long-standing family-owned business with over 20 years of experience and heritage, Safety Dave also relies on word of mouth and positive reviews to generate business.
With a mission to provide every business and home in Australia with the highest-quality safety equipment on the market, Safety Dave needed the hardware and software to support such an ambitious and worthwhile vision.
It was with this understanding and background that we approached Safety Dave with a possible solution: bundle all their Internet, Voice, Managed CPE Equipment (router/ switches), and Managed WIFI elements together to safeguard their entire communication system.
Understanding small business challenges
While we knew our Comvergence model would be ideal for Safety Dave and their entire team, it took a little convincing.
Over six months and several appointments, the Comvergence team took Safety Dave through our individual approach to their disconnected communication challenge.
As a small business ourselves, and one that relies heavily on referrals and reviews for ongoing business, we were able to connect on our shared challenges as small business owners, and demonstrate our capability through our agile and integrated telecommunication approach.
What we did
The Comvergence team tackled this challenge from all angles:
Cloud PBX
We installed:
- Cloud PBX phone system with dashboard, call queues and reporting capabilities
- Primary Internet Services using Fibre
- Secondary Internet Service using NBN (alternative internet)
- Tertiary or last resort using 4G
To ensure we maximised their Google Ads spend, we also integrated and ported their 1800 number, updating and connected their phone system with their major lead generator.
Hardware
We installed:
- Cloud PBX including new handsets for the Safety Dave head office
- Cordless phones for warehouse
- Wireless headsets for most staff and dual headsets for those who have impaired hearing
Internet
We installed:
- Routers For Internet including 2 * Cisco 927 Routers in a Hot Standby Application for High Availability ensuring continuous connectivity in the event of one system’s failure
- 4G Extender Aerial for last resort connectivity
- Improved redirection of calls to support customers after normal hours, even in the face of a major incident
- Managed WIFI in office and warehouse
- Managed Network Switch

The elevated IP Telephony service has reported dramatically improved communications for the entire Safety Dave team, ensuring they can more easily pick up calls from anywhere on the telephone network, transfer calls both internally and externally, place customers on hold during busy period, and effectively manage call drop outs due to network issues at the customer end.
