Overcoming One Space Health’s challenges with a fully managed internet and phone system
For over two decades, Jodi Hendler has built her career around helping people move better and live healthier lives.
“I started out wanting to get into medicine. But once I got stuck into being a physio, I realised I loved the work and loved being in the area of healthcare,” she said.
After immigrating from South Africa and following a family legacy in physiotherapy, she purchased Glen Eira Physio upon arriving in Australia. After years of bringing her vision to life at Glen Eira Physio, she built One Space Health in 2023 – a purpose-built allied health hub in Melbourne’s south-east that leased space to Glen Eira Physio, along with other medical and allied medical practitioners.
Like many established practices, Jodi’s early growth relied on word of mouth, referrals, and traditional advertising. Today, it’s a different story.
“When I started the business in the 2000s, we had to rely on the Yellow Pages for most of our marketing along with referrals. Referrals are still a big part of our business, but most of our business comes through our website.
As the business grew and evolved, so did the demands on our internet and phone systems. That’s when we encountered some real challenges with our telecommunications systems.”
Overwhelm from connection challenges
With 100s of monthly website enquiries, online bookings, and cloud-based systems central to her daily operations, Jodi knew that reliable internet and database connectivity wasn’t optional; it was critical to the success and longevity of her business.
“Before Comvergence, we were with a different supplier. We had to move to a cloud-based platform for a phone system. That’s where the problems really started.”
Unstable internet and unreliable phone systems meant outages at the worst possible times. When the connection dropped, so did access to patient records, booking systems, and communication tools. For a busy clinic, that quickly translated into lost revenue, disrupted workflows, and a frustrating experience for staff and patients alike.
Jodi knew she needed a provider who could offer more than just a service – she needed certainty, availability and honesty.
“We turned to Comvergence to help solve our fledging system. From there, everything changed for the better,” she explains.
Bespoke connection with Comvergence
Working with Comvergence, the solution was designed around reliability from the ground up. This included a fully managed internet service supported by an NBN connection with a 4G aerial backup mounted on the roof, ensuring continuity even during outages. On-site performance was strengthened through a Cisco Managed Router and Cisco Managed Switch, alongside managed wireless access points to deliver seamless coverage across the entire clinic.
“Brian and the team left nothing to chance. He was with us when we were at the old site and made sure he was across everything when we moved into the new space at 133 Murrumbeena Road.
Even during the build phase, Brian was there working alongside contractors and builders to ensure the infrastructure was fit for purpose from day one. He put antennas in for extra coverage, installed a backup system to cover any drop-outs, and integrated our entire phone system as well.”
“The difference has been immediate and immeasurable,” she says.

Where there were once constant disruptions, there is now consistency. Systems stay online, phones stay connected, and the team can focus on what they do best – delivering the best possible care.
For Jodi, it comes down to trust. Having direct access to someone who understands the business and takes ownership of outcomes has been just as valuable as the technology itself.
And in a healthcare environment, that reliability makes all the difference.
